Welcome to another edition of the Week in Review where we’re looking at Forza Horizon 4 in more detail courtesy of IGN, reliving the unveiling of our Forza Horizon 4 Cover Car, looking ahead to the next episode of Forza Monthly, and much more. Strap in and let’s get this week reviewed!

Forza Monthly – July 2!

Earlier this month we introduced the first episode of our new monthly broadcast “Forza Monthly.” On the show, we showed off the new features coming in the June CU, including our Ford spotlight cars, new features, and more. We had so much fun that we’re doing it all again in July. The next episode of “Forza Monthly” will be broadcast on Monday, July 2, starting at 3 p.m. Pacific. In addition to talking about the recently wrapped Forza Racing Championship Series 1 Playoffs, we’ll be playing Forza Horizon 4 and answering viewer questions about Playground’s latest masterpiece, as well as showing off the July update for Forza Motorsport 7. We’ve got some truly special cars coming in July; you already know about the McLaren 720 S, which we announced on our June show. But if you were paying close attention to our Forza Twitter channel, you might have seen another. Here’s a refresher:

Yeah, it’s going to be a good show. Make sure you tune in on Mixer and Twitch on Monday and check out our DLC Clue Thread on the Forza Forums to get your best guesses in about our July lineup of cars!

IGN’s Real-Life Forza Horizon Road Trip

From the U.S. to Southern Europe; Australia to Britain. The Forza Horizon series is nothing if not cosmopolitan. Recently, IGN’s own Luke Reilly got the chance to experience the real-life version of a Forza Horizon adventure, with a road trip that took him from Leamington-Spa (the home of Playground Games) to the Cotswolds, one of the biggest tourist attractions in all of England. In addition to some scenic views, Reilly got the chance to check out the McLaren 720 S. Not a bad afternoon spent in the UK. Check it out:

Also, if you missed it when it originally broadcast earlier in the week, check out this IGN First video on the Horizon Life in Forza Horizon 4:

Photo mode, rewind, and pausing while online? Check. Buying residences and getting (car-related) jobs to earn credits? Yep. Quick chat with other players online? Of course! All of that, plus #Forzathon Live events, and much more. We’re going to enjoy living that Horizon Life.

John Hindhaugh Challenge Update

If you love Le Mans, hopefully you’ve had a chance to take on “the voice of Le Mans” this month in our John Hindhaugh Challenge in Forza Motorsport 7. The legendary motorsport announcer is your Bounty target in this event, driving the Forza GT Division car of your choice on the legendary Le Mans track. Look for John on the leaderboards by his Gamertag (makem73) and do your best to take down his time on the track, which currently stands at a respectable 4:24.094.

Here’s a look at all the in-game rewards up for grabs in this event:

Beat Hindhaugh’s Time – Referee Driver Gear

Top 10th Leaderboard Percentile – 50,000 credits

Top 25th Leaderboard Percentile – 2012 MINI John Cooper Works GP Forza Edition

Top 75th Leaderboard Percentile – 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport 454 Forza Edition

Participation Reward – 2008 BMW Z4 M Coupe

Simply set a time in this event and you’ll get your hands on that BMW unicorn car in Forza 7. The only catch? This event ends on July 1, so this weekend is your last time to get your times in and claim your rewards. Good luck!

ForzaRC Pro-Am

We saw a lot of movement on the leaderboards this week with our ForzaRC Pro-Am. If you missed the boat, the Pro-Am features six ForzaRC drivers acting as captains of their own community teams (who are organized by their XBL Gamertags). We’ve got prizes based on where the teams end up on the leaderboards, as well as where each individual ForzaRC captain ends up as well. If you want the latest information on how your team captain is doing, make sure you follow us on Twitter. Here’s a look at the latest as of this writing:

Current Team Average Lap Times

Team Captain Gamertags Current Team Average Time
TX3 HardBR T-Z 2:15.671
F4H Venom D-G 2:16.199
bbbb0x R-S 2:16.224
G2 Laige A- C 2:16.467
TX3 Lightning M-Q 2:16.564
TX3 Wesley H-L 2:17.383

Current Team Captain Individual Times

TX3 Lightning – 2:03.393

Bbbb0x – 2:03.857

TX3 Hard BR – 2:03.537

TX3 Wesley – 2:05.265

G2 Laige – 2:05.992

F4H Venom – 2:06.602

Remember, in addition to all the team and captain finishes, there’s also rewards up for grabs for where you finish on the leaderboard as well. This is a Rivals event after all so, while you should certainly cheer for your assigned team, make sure you get your best time on the boards to ensure you get as much great stuff as possible. The ForzaRC Pro-Am will run throughout the month, ending on July 31.

McLaren Senna E3 Reveal

One of the best Forza moments from E3 2018 was the North American debut of the McLaren Senna at the Mixer E3 booth. Naturally, we’re proud of the cover car for Forza Horizon 4, so here’s a look back at that event from E3 week, along with an interview with McLaren’s own Andy Thomas:

Special Effect

We’re proud to announce this week that Special Effect, a UK-based charity organization dedicated to helping people of all abilities enjoy gaming, has appointed our own studio head Alan Hartman as a Special Effect vice president. The Forza franchise has enjoyed a long relationship with Special Effect over the years, beginning with charity work with Playground Games, and we look forward to working with this amazing team for years to come.

Bbbb0x Profile Story

Last week I waxed poetic on Robin Betka’s (aka Noble b0x) dominant performance at our ForzaRC Series 1 Playoffs. The story of how Betka, who has always been a ForzaRC contender, stepped up his game in the 2018 season is a lesson in how to succeed in modern esports. Check out the excellent profile on bbbb0x over at Full Throttle Media, which cover’s Betka’s earliest days as a racing game fan, his entry into competitive racing, and his ascension to a ForzaRC champion. It’s a great read and a story that will continue to inspire as Betka’s star continues to rise.
