Forza Week in Review 1-6-17
Happy New Year everyone! Just back from the holidays, we’re kicking 2017 off in high gear with an action-packed edition of the Week in Review. This week we’ve got a brand new car pack in Forza Horizon 3, along with new #Forzathon events, and the arrival of a very special package at Forza HQ. Read on for all the latest!
Ford GT at Turn 10
Forza Motorsport 6’s cover car – the 2017 Ford GT – is coming home to Forza HQ and this week, we saw the first step in that process arrive at Turn 10’s doorstep, with the receipt of the Ford GT Order Kit. Turn 10 studio manager Alan Hartman, who is purchasing the car personally, sat down with members of the Turn 10 team earlier this week to “unbox” the contents of the Order Kit. Check it out:
That carbon fiber Order Kit box (complete with a latch that is identical to those on the real Ford GT itself) was cool enough but, as you can see in the above video, what’s inside was even better. With a number of body paint and stripe choices, mix-and-match wheel and brake sets, and lots of interior detail options, Alan’s Ford GT will be a completely unique creation. Best of all, when the car is delivered it will live in the front lobby our new office space where the team will be moving later in the year. Look for copious amounts of pictures and information all about the new Turn 10 HQ in the coming months.
As for now, we are in the opening stages of this Ford GT journey and we want to take the Forza community along for the entire ride. Alan has until the end of the month to make his options choices so, until then, we’d like to open it up to you guys to give us opinions on how you think the car should look. Yellow with black stripes? Matte black with gold wheels? Traditional blue and white? The options are on the table and we’ve love to hear from you in our official thread on the Forza Ford GT in the Forza Forums.
In celebration of the Ford GT, we’ve kicked off a couple of special events starring the Ford GT in both Forza Motorsport 6 and Forza Horizon 3. In Forza 6, you’ll be turning hotlaps in a GT-themed Rivals event on Road America. Over in Forza Horizon 3, we’ve got a brand new Bucket List event featuring the Ford GT tackling the South Kiewa Valley Blueprint point. Both events are titled “Special Delivery” and are live in their respective games now. Enjoy!
Look for more on the brand new Ford GT in the coming weeks!
Rockstar Energy Car Pack
On Tuesday we launched the Rockstar Energy Car Pack for Forza Horizon 3, featuring seven amazing vehicles ideal for cruising around Australia, whether you’re exploring the dusty Outback or getting hub-deep in the snow of Blizzard Mountain. One of the starts of the pack – the BMW i8 – was revealed just before the holidays and are joined by community favorites like the 1987 Nissan Skyline GTS-R (R31) and the 2015 Radical RXC Turbo, alongside powerhouses like the 2014 Ford #11 Rockstar F-150 Trophy Truck and the 2016 Bentley Bentayga.
Forza @ Daytona
A very special livery will be appearing at this year’s Rolex 24 at Daytona race. The Change Racing team will be running its Lamborghini Huracàn GT3 in the GTD Class, featuring a Forza Motorsport livery designed by our own Ayo Jube! The duo of American Corey Lewis and Dutchman Jeroen Mul will share driving duties of the Change Racing Huracàn, which will see action at Daytona this season as part of the IMSA WeatherTech series, as well as at the Sebring 12 Hour, Watkins Glen 6 Hour, and Petit Le Mans. In addition, we’ll be bringing the liveried version of the Huracàn GT3 to Forza Horizon 3 in the future, so be on the lookout for that.
This year’s Rolex 24 at Daytona will take place on January 28 – 29.
Ken Block HMA Q & A
You saw nods to Forza Horizon 3 in GYMKHANA NINE. Ken Block attended the Forza Horizon 3 launch party at the Petersen Museum. And of course you have seen his incredible Ford Focus RS RX in the Blizzard Mountain Expansion.
This week, Heavy Metal Affliction had a chance to talk with Block about how involved he is in making Gymkhana videos, his Ford Focus RS RX, and much more. The Q&A is the perfect complement to watching the video one more time and comes jam-packed with awesome photos straight from Hoonigan and renowned motorsport photographer Larry Chen.
FH3 PC Update
Earlier this week, alongside the release of the Rockstar Energy Car Pack, some Forza Horizon 3 PC players were unfortunately prevented from playing the game due to an incorrect version of the game being uploaded. This resulted in a number of PC players unable to access the game for a short amount of time and, for a smaller number of brand new FH3 players, it resulted in the loss of their game saves altogether.
Since the release earlier this week, the team at Turn 10 has been working hard to get the corrected version of Forza Horizon 3 – complete with the Rockstar Energy Car Pack content – available to PC players as quickly as possible. As of this morning, the new version (184.108.40.206) is now available and players can now download and use the content from the Rockstar Car Pack. In addition, for those brand new players who lost their game saves, we’re sending a gift of in-game credit.
#Forzathon – Hall of the Mountain King
The new year is here and a new week of #Forzathon action has arrived with it. Take a look at this weekend’s events, currently live in the game now:
Earlier today we were made aware of an issue with the “Shake, Rally and Roll” #Forzathon event; specifically where players were completing the challenge but were not receiving the Subaru rewards car. The team is aware of this and, while this event will unfortunately not be fixed this weekend, we will provide players with additional chances to earn that Subaru reward car in an upcoming #Forzathon event. We’d like to apologize to everyone who has run into this issue and we look forward to offering additional chances for players to earn this car in the future.
