Forza Motorsport Week in Review 1-22-16
Welcome to another edition of the Week in Review! If it’s been a while since you’ve poked around our little corner of the Internet here at FM.net, I encourage you to set a bookmark on the Forza Motorsport 6 Cars Page. That’s because, after several months of work and a metric ton of Community assistance, we are finally rolling out the fruits of our “Forza 6 All Cars” photography project!
If you missed it, late last year we put out the call to the Forzatographers in the community to help us get a shot of every single car in Forza Motorsport 6 – a gargantuan project thanks to Forza 6’s massive car list. We put out the call to Forzatographers and were delighted by the responses – tons of photographers new and old to the Forza Community answered the bell and set to work, using their considerable talents to get amazing images of all Forza 6’s cars.
The results speak for themselves. You can already see shots posted by the likes of Pebb, PJTierney, ZorglubBellveue, NO DeCLouie TRC, KTVDS, and many, many more taking over the Cars section. Over the next few weeks we’ll be rolling out these shots on a manufacturer-by-manufacturer basis, until all the cars have been posted.
Thanks again to all of the talented folks who contributed to this project – you’ve helped to make FM.net a better place, and all of here at Turn 10 appreciate it.
Now, on with today’s edition of the Week in Review!
Formula E Race Off – This Weekend!
Here’s your reminder that the Formula E Race Off is happening this weekend! Mentioned in last week’s edition of the Week in Review, the Face Off event will include a tournament for Forza 6 players during the day and will culminate by pitting two Formula E drivers, Bruno Senna and Nico Prost, against one another in the game. The event will be held live at London’s Gfinity Arena and you’ll be able to watch the show live over at the Formula E Twitch channel. In addition, Forza fans will have a chance to compete live on stage at the event before Senna and Prost face off. We’ve already seen a fantastic turnout of Forza players who are ready to compete live and there’s still time to register for those who want to show up. Tune in beginning at 11:45 London time to watch the event unfold live! Good luck to all the contestants!
E Class Hopper Now Available
We’ve had a couple new hoppers added to the multiplayer mix in Forza Motorsport 6. Recently we added a 1970s GP hopper and, on Thursday, we put up an E Class hopper, which means that we now have a class-based hopper for every class in Forza 6. In the words of Monty Pyton: “And there was much rejoicing…”
Now to bug the guys about a multi-class lobby…
This week we released a content update aimed at correcting an issue in Forza Motorsport 6 where a set of Chinese-language text was appearing on screen before the game loaded up. This issue only affected a small number of players worldwide and, with today’s CU, should no longer be appearing for those players.
Forza Hub Windows 10 Update
This week we have released the latest content update for Forza Hub on Windows 10. This update brings a number of additions and improvements to the app, including:
· Downloading and sharing images from the Forza Hub Galleries
· Friends Leaderboard -- Compare your Forza Score to your Xbox Friends’ scores
· Additional Forza Score details help you see what you’ve accomplished in each game
· Support for keyboard media controls
· Miscellaneous performance improvements and bug fixes
If you still haven’t downloaded Forza Hub for your Windows 10 PC what are you waiting for? Head over to the Windows Store and download your copy for free and check it out!
How Race Cars Get Their Liveries
Forza players know how liveries happen on cars in Forza Motorsport 6 – be it as a popular download from a creator you follow, or an original masterpiece built by hand in the livery editor. But how do race liveries go from concept to reality in real life? That’s the subject of a fascinating post we saw this week on Jalopnik’s sub-blog Black Flag. Written by graphic designer Andy Blackmore, and featuring the Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport run by the CJ Wilson Racing team in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, the story tracks the process from the “brief” (the document that kicks off the process, including sponsors, logos, and the rest of it) all the way to what you watch racing on the track. In all, it’s a fascinating read and, for your designers out there, it might give you some additional tips on how to get your work noticed in the game and in the real world. Enjoy!
Raceboy’s Shifting Tips
Forza All-Star Raceboy77 is back with another edition of his Forza 6 Tips series on YouTube. This time, RB is covering shifting – a crucial aspect for Forza racers who are looking to make the most of their lap times. In addition to spending time discussing his methods for finding out when to shift gears (as he explains, it’s not always at the rev limit), RB takes you through some other tips and tricks, including when to power shift (and when not to), rev-matching, and the importance of correct gear selection on corner exit. Whether you’re brand new to manual transmissions, or you’re a tried-and-true manual/clutch veteran, you’ll find something here to learn.
Can-Am Connection Reminder
Today kicks off the third and final week for the Can-Am Connection League in Forza Motorsport 6. That’s important for two reasons. First, if you’re in the top 50% of times from last week’s edition of the League, congratulations, you’ve got an exclusive Ferrari 312 P coming your way. Second, and this is especially important, for those of you who haven’t gotten your hands on this exclusive bonus car yet – this is the FINAL week we’ll be running this League and thus your final chance to try for this car in the month of January. We’ll be running the League until the end of next week, so get your times in now and keep track of your place on the leaderboard. Good luck!
Tune in for another edition of #ForzaFriday today, where Yours Truly will be hosting another two hours of racing and fun on the Forza Twitch channel. The show will likely start slightly later than usual (probably between 3:15 and 3:30 Pacific) so stay tuned to our Twitter feed for the latest and we’ll see you there!
