Forza Week in Review 1-12-18
We’re just a few days away from the launch of Forza Horizon 3 in native 4K! The big update for the Xbox One X-enhanced version of the game launches on Monday and will be completely free for players who own an Xbox One X console. It’s been a while since I’ve spent some quality time in Playground Games’ version of Australia and, I absolutely cannot wait to get my hands 4K-ready version of the game. We’ll be playing the Xbox One X version of Forza Horizon 3 on our regular Tuesday Drive livestream show next week, in addition to showing off the latest and greatest DLC cars coming to Forza Motorsport 7 on Tuesday.
Now, on with the Week in Review!
Leagues & Hoppers Update
Today’s the final day for Series 2 of our “New Year, New League” season. I’ve enjoyed the Open Wheel Legends event, as I am a glutton for early 60s open-wheel punishment. With Series 3, we’ve once again got a new Ghost and Simulation event – in the Historic Road Racing and Supercar Renaissance divisions, respectively. New for this Series, however, will be a Spec Sim event starring the Ford Falcon XR8. That kicks off tomorrow, so prepare yourself accordingly!
In Multiplayer we’re introducing two new Breakout hoppers today – R Class and C Class. These two hoppers will sit alongside our currently existing A, S, and P Class Breakout hoppers, giving players even more options for the cars they want to race online. Happy racing!
January Bounty Hunter – Johniwanna
Our January Bounty Hunter event starts next week, which means a brand new Bounty to chase. This month we’ve got a familiar face for Forza fans as John Schommer – aka Johniwanna – will be the driver to chase this month. With John being such a hardcore car collector, we talked long and hard about which car would be right for his Bounty Hunter event; eventually we landed on the 2014 Ford Fiesta ST, which players will be driving in a Track Day event on Mugello Full.
As always we’ll have prizes available for players who take part in the event and for those who beat Johniwanna’s final posted time. In fact, everyone who sets a time in the event will receive not just the 1977 Ford Escort RS1800 but also the 2018 New Year’s Eve gear which was previously only available for viewers of our New Year’s Eve livestream. Next week look for another Twitter poll, where we’ll let voters decide the car players get for beating John’s time.
The January Bounty Hunter kicks off on Tuesday, January 16! See you on the leaderboards.
#Forzathon – Locking Horns
The latest #Forzathon series has begun in Forza Horizon 3 and there are a pair of Lamborghinis up for grabs – including the Huracán Horizon Edition and the legendary Sesto Elemento, along with wheelspins and credits. Take a look:
January DLC Clue Thread
The next car pack for Forza Motorsport 7 arrives on Tuesday, January 16. As we do practically each month, we’ve got a clue thread in the Forza Forums, where you can make your best guesses as to which vehicles will be in the next pack. John’s once again come up with a list of vague-to-the-point-of-outright-cruel clues in the thread. No matter how opaque the clues, someone always manages to suss out the truth on one or more of the cars per month. Could that be you this month? Jump into the thread and take a chance!
#ForzaFriday and Tuesday Drive
After being out due to illness, I’m happy to be back on the couch this week for another episode of #ForzaFriday starting at 3 p.m. Pacific. We’ll be checking out the new C and R Class multiplayer hoppers, hitting up the Random Ring Race, and talking all the latest Forza news. In addition, we have a jam-packed Tuesday Drive show coming on January 16. In addition to checking out the new cars in our January DLC pack, we’ll spend some time checking out the Xbox One X version of Forza Horizon 3.
