Forza Week in Review 9-29-17

Friday, September 29, 2017

There’s nothing like a Forza Week in Review during launch week! After all, it’s one thing to be able to talk about all the cool things that make up a game like Forza Motorsport 7 in the months and weeks before release, but to be able to say, “It’s here, let’s go play!” is a sweet feeling indeed. Players who have the Ultimate Edition of the game will be enjoying FM7 this weekend, and it won’t be long before October 3 rolls around and the game opens up for Deluxe and Standard Edition owners.

So, keeping in mind that many of you might be taking a break from Forza 7 to read this, let’s keep today’s edition short and to the point. It’s time for the Week in Review!

Forza Motorsport 7 Launch Livestream

On Wednesday we celebrated this week’s release of Forza 7 with a special day-long livestream on the official Forza Mixer and Twitch channels. During the 9+ hour broadcast, myself and Johniwanna welcomed guests from all over Turn 10 to our spruced up streaming studio to chat about the making of Forza 7 and, yes, play the game until our fingers bled. (Okay, there were no bleeding fingers, but you get there could have been.)

Over the course of the day, we got the chance to dive deep into Forza 7, exploring the intricacies of the Forza Drivers Cup single-player campaign, as well as showing off Prize Crates, Free Play, our awesome weather system and our amazing tracks, as well as the game’s massive car list, Forza Rewards, and so much more. It was a great time that I hope everyone enjoyed live. If you missed the show during its original airing, and you’ve got a few hours to kill, head over to Mixer and watch the full replay.

Xbox Live Sessions – Forza 7

One livestream to support the launch of Forza Motorsport 7 is simply not enough! That’s why we’re heading to Los Angeles on Saturday, September 30, for our Xbox Live Sessions Forza Motorsport 7 debut livestream. The show will be hosted by Major Nelson and Yours Truly and will begin at 1 p.m. on the official Forza Motorsport Mixer channel. In addition to playing copious amounts of Forza Motorsport 7, we’ll also be joined by two racing legends: Global Rallycross driver and TV star Tanner Foust, and 2017 IndyCar series champion Josef Newgarden.

If you’ve been following Forza over the years, you know that Tanner Foust has been a friend of Forza for a long time now. He’s made numerous trips to the Microsoft campus (and to Forza HQ) to check out the latest and greatest in the world of Forza and to offer his feedback. In addition, Foust ably served as an analyst for the Season 2 Grand Finals of the Forza Racing Championship.

In the world of racing drivers, few have a deeper Forza roots than Josef Newgarden. In fact, before he was a professional driver, Newgarden was a big-time Forza leaderboard guy. Good thing too, because we’ll be kicking off our very first Forza Motorsport 7 Bounty Hunter during our Xbox Live Sessions livestream. While the event is open now in Forza Motorsport 7 (check the “Featured Events” channel in Rivals Mode), you’ll have to watch the livestream to get the lowdown on Josef’s Gamertag. After all, it wouldn’t be a Bounty Hunter event unless you know exactly who you’re chasing, right?

Get ready for a great show, and an awesome Bounty Hunter event; it all kicks off on Saturday!

Having FM7 Issues? We Can Help!

With early access here for Forza Motorsport 7, I wanted to take a moment to let you know where you can go to get assistance with the game if you run into issues. The first place to check is the Forza Forums, specifically our Forza 7 Technical Support forum. There you can check current threads like our ongoing FM7 Known Issues thread, as well as check out the guidelines for how best to report issues you run into. The latter thread is especially important for PC players, where we might need to see your configuration settings or dxdiag in order to further troubleshoot. In addition to the forums, you can let us know about any issues you might see on Twitter or by sending us an e-mail to In all cases, but especially on the forums and on e-mail, the more detail you can give us about what you’re seeing in Forza 7, the easier it will be for us to help you resolve your issue!

SCUF Forza Elite Controller

Looking to class up your controller game for the launch of Forza Motorsport 7? SCUF has teamed up with Porsche and Turn 10 Studios to design a new limited edition controller bundle in celebration of Forza Motorsport 7. Inspired by the Porsche 911 GT2 RS, the SCUF FORZA ELITE's front design is custom-crafted with an exclusive silver finish, red and black racing stripes, black carbon fiber accents, and real Alcantara leather handles. This limited quantity, exclusive bundle comes with a SCUF branded 1/43 scale model of the 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS. Pre-orders for this luxurious bundle begins on October 7. For more information check out the site.

#Forzathon – Take the Lead

In last week’s #Forzathon events, we celebrated the 1-year anniversary of Forza Horizon 3 and, this week, it’s all about Forza Motorsport 7 with our “Take the Lead” series of events. Grab a Porsche and complete a championship to win credits, get 3 stars on the Airport Danger Sign to win the 911 Turbo 3.3, and more. Take a look:

Forza Motorsport 7 Photo Contests Begin Sunday September 30

Forza Horizon 3 has given the Forza world some amazing photos and we have been blown away by the artistry found in them. With Forza Motorsport 7 already out for early access and the rest of the world beginning to play on October 3rd, we are kicking off a new series of photo contests you will be able to find in the Forza Forums.

So, with those photos to begin entering the WIR spotlight, we give a huge thank you to all the Forza Horizon 3 photo entries over the last year and are showcasing some of the winners from this week below. Fear not though, If you are a Forza Horizon 3 player your photo contests will continue.

FM7 Livery Contest for Josh Robinson's Formula Drift Ute

Aussie Josh Robinson brought his 1,000 horsepower Ute to America to compete in the Formula Drift series. This machine has a carbon fiber body and is a true tire-destroying beast. Now that Robinson is getting ready to go Pro next year, he has asked the Forza painting community to offer up their best designs for his Ute.

The winner will have their design applied to Robinson’s real life drift Ute and will be presented at SEMA at the end of October. This is the first big livery contest for Forza Motorsport 7. Don’t miss your chance to have your design shared with the drifting world on one of the most spectacular builds in the series. You can apply your livery to any late model Holden Ute from Forza 7.

Read the Heavy Metal Affliction story here. See the rules and who is entering here in Robinson’s post in the Forza Forums.

See? I promised a short and sweet Week in Review and I delivered. As a reminder, there’s no #ForzaFriday stream today as we’re busy prepping for Saturday’s Xbox Live Sessions show. We’ll be back in the studio on Tuesday, Oct. 3 to celebrate worldwide launch of the Deluxe and Standard Editions of the game, however, so get ready!

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some Forza 7 to play. Happy racing!
