Eagle

Eagle was a brand of cars begun in 1979 by the American Motor Corporation. The marque took its name from the AMC Eagle, a compact full-time AWD vehicle that was popular with customers who wanted a 4WD vehicle that offered the amenities of a passenger vehicle with the capabilities of a truck. Nearly 200,000 Eagles were manufactured between 1980 and 1988. Other cars produced by Eagle were the Eagle Vision, the Eagle Talon (Eagle's flagship car), and the Eagle Premier (developed by an AMC/Renault partnership and the first large car launched by AMC). All Eagle vehicles wore the eagle-head logo, which set them apart from other AMC and Chrysler models. In 1987, Chrysler bought AMC and focused the Eagle brand toward the 'enthusiastic' driver. But the brand faced stiff competition from other Chryslers divisions, and, in 1998, the Eagle brand was discontinued after the Daimler-Chrysler merger.
